The Eggs Files II: Answers, Part 1.

Below are the answers to Step 1: Gather Information. I have also included where agents found the information.


a = Year of the birth of Dr. Seuss = 1904. Found in Dr. Seuss Goes to War.
b = Number of cards in a standard Fluxx deck = 84. Found on a Fluxx deck.
c = Number of magicians who have died performing the bullet-catching trick = 12. Found in the program to Penn & Teller: Living in Vegas, Live at the Rio.
d = Point value of the word "zapping" in Scrabble = 21. Found in the game Scrabble.
e = the current postage, in microcredits, for bulk-rate mailing from Smirnisc to Valodsci = 49. Found on a travel brochure "Live the Historic South", part of the feelie packet [Link remove 6/22/11; originally linked to "http://www.feelies.org/game.php?id=14"] to City of Secrets, by Emily Short.
f = Number of bells in the remaining wall at San Juan Capistrano Mission = 4. Found in a fourth-grade report by me on the same mission, including pictures of the bell wall taken by me.
g = Number of religions represented in the Dictionary of the Khazars = 3 = Found in The Dictionary of the Khazars.
h = First word sung on the soundtrack to the film Magnolia = 1 = Found on the soundtrack to Magnolia, which was also playing as guests arrived.
k = Number of Spanish Steps adjacent to Library Tower between Fifth and Fourth Streets in downtown Los Angeles = 103 = Found in Stairways a small book containing photographs of and information about public in Los Angeles.
m = Number of light years between Earth and Pollux = 31. Found in Find the Constellations by H.A. Rey. The original edition of this book was made in 1954, which may go some way to explaining why the information about distances is off.
p = Year in which Julius Caesar landed in England = 55 BC. Found in 1066 and All That, one of only two dates in the entire book.
r = Dollar value of Maggie Simpson = 847[.63]. Found in The Simpsons: A Complete Guide to Our Favorite Family. Solvers could also have watched any of the episodes of The Simpsons I have on DVD.
