Eric Berlin has written a fabulous book called The Puzzling World of Winston Breen. It's a young-adult novel along the lines of The Westing Game and Encyclopedia Brown, and in addition to the overarching mystery, it's sprinkled with a variety of solvable puzzles for kids.

I know there are a few people reading this with kids who will appreciate the book.
