Party Time.

Despite what I said earlier, we've decided to hold the viewing party next Tuesday, the day of airing. Mostly, this had to do with our belated realization that the Saturday after the airing was also the Saturday before Halloween. The invite list was pretty haphazard, so if you want to come and you're in town I didn't invite you, it's probably just because I'm lame. Let me know.

I also need to start thinking about recording. I can capture it on my DVR, but I don't currently have a way to transfer from my DVR into any other digital format. The show has already told me that they won't be able to send me a DVD, so I'd like to know if someone has the ability to save it onto a disc of some sort. Also, I understand that it's customary to have an LJ icon made out of a screenshot of the show, so I'll need a digital capture to do that.

I think my parents have already volunteered to get the VHS recording, but since we foolishly trashed our VCR during the move, it won't be of the greatest immediate use.

Barry Tunick's obituary ran in the L.A. Times today. We'll be going to the memorial service this Saturday.

At the risk of sounding like a commercial, if you are willing to buy a gadget ($98.99), I suggest the USB 2.0 TV Tuner from StarTech.com. You just plug the cable from the TV to the tuner and a USB cable to your computer, install the software, and that's it. The software also can record the video or just screenshots. http://www.startech.com/Product/ItemDetail.aspx?productid=USB2TVTUNER&c=US

and you know, once it's on your computer, it's easy to get it on a CD or DVD

If I can clear enough off my TiVo this weekend, I'll try to make a copy to burn onto a DVD. Assuming it won't be one of the days they decide to air just one episode again and they air the wrong one.

You really have no utility for yanking it off your DVR? Have you checked around?

I too can get it to DVD to you if you'd like. My system is set to go DVR direct to DVD.

FWIW.
