Straddlin'

There's still a lot of rage all over. From what I've been reading, and what people have been telling me directly, I think it's because there was a whole lot of anger before, but now people are starting to find words for it. I keep thinking of Láadan, and finding words for important things that have not yet been named.

I've got a lot of awesome new blogs to read, right now, but I also have a lot of awesome blogs by people who have been friends for a while. And some of those friends are a bit hurt and bewildered. I kind of want to do some sort of meta commentary to try to bring both sides (a little closer) together, but it's not really coming out right. I don't have the words for that yet, I guess.

Anyway, right now I'm happy that I made my mom proud.

That totally made me tear up with simultaneous momness/kidness. If that makes any sense. :) *waves* Hi. It is awesome that your mom is proud of you, from what I read, she's got reason.

DUDE. [livejournal.com profile] ozarque reference? NICE.

Ohhh my god, I love your mom. (In a totally non-creepy way.) //sniffles

If you're looking for someone who does bridge it all quite nicely, [livejournal.com profile] synechdochic does a fab. job (and is fabulously articulate in general).

I know what you mean about the difficulty of meta-commentary... I've been thinking about this whole thing a lot - and about many of the associated issues, from patriarchy to politics to sexual violence - but I still end up very strident and emotional when I try to write about it. Maybe eventually the dust will settle.

(Also, yay for your mom! She's right. Your textual analysis posts, especially, were spot on. I think I said that already, but it SO bears repeating...)

Hee, much respect to your mum. :)
