Also, my firm has re-upped its subscription to the online Oxford English Dictionary. This is a Good Thing. It means I get to jump around quickly looking for fun words. Here's some of what I found today:

Interestingly, I was reviewing a Scr(a)bble game I played against an former club player. The game is still recorded. It reminded me of why I hate the OSPD for such things. "Ka"? "Voe"? Why add such obscure variants? I'll stick to the "ut" and "vext" in my standard collegiate dictionary, thankyouverymuch.

"Shchi" is a Russian word, you know. For cabbage soup.

It looks a lot better in Russian, because "shch" is a single letter. I wonder if there's Russian Scrabble.
