The momma dramas and the ancient traumas.

A while back, a friend of mine abandoned her LJ blog for a MovableType blog on her own site. As she relocated, she said that she was "not particularly enamored of the social dynamic potentially (!) created by LiveJournal." I only abstractly agreed with her, then. I fully agree with her now.

There are 470335 active users on LiveJournal. I don't read 470260 of them. It's nice to have perspective.

The reasons she listed - one I fully agreed with was the whole arbitrariness of the friends list.

I post almost exclusively to my MT blog, saving my LJ login for posting comments.

What else do you expect from a grumpy old man?

Get back to me when you have a way of reading those 75 journals without requiring 75 clicks.

(Personally, I always find the presence of those other social circles quite a boon; I often expand my friends list by adding people I see in other people's comments sections.)

I'm not quite sure I really understand--
Could you elucidate? Which is to say,
What dynamic is created here?

Is this a feeling that has gradually been growing since then or did something specific spur this on?
