On the Move.
I forgot to put this in my last entry. The next episode of Tablesaw Doing Lots of Intranational Traveling will be Labor Day weekend, Aug. 29 through Sept. 2, in New York City, the city so nice they named it twice but neglected to add a polis to the end. Right now, I have two days that look pretty clear on that weekend, so I'm asking for ideas for things to see, hear, feel, smell, taste and otherwise experience. (Also, I'm brazenly soliciting invitations to crash on beds, sofas, floors, closets, etc. during my stay.)
All right, back to the high seas.

Also, since I've been going there since I was a baby I am very partial to the Bronx Zoo (when I was small I lived five minutes from there). If someone drives with you there- be sure to enter at the Rainforest entrance. The gate and the fountain are really pretty.
So, yeah, those are the two places in NYC that hold the fondest memories for me. Other places with personal memories that may or may not interest you: the Guggenheim (I had a sculpture displayed there when I was in third grade), the Coney Island Aquarium, any Broadway show (1/2 tix every day in Times Square).
I hope that helps. I'm jealous that you get to go. The last time I got to NYC (and to visit my mom at her place) was March of 2001 (and I won't be back up there until at least the beginning of next year).
