I just finished watching the reply of Will Shortz on The Daily Show, but fuldu has already said pretty much all that needs to be said about it.

When I picked up an abandoned copy of the LA Times while doing the laundry today, my eye was drawn not to the recall coverage, but to a map on the front page of the "California" section. It accompanied a story about the flash floods that hit Las Vegas and the Mojave desert yesterday, and pointed out the place where a bridge had been washed out, forcing the closure of the I-15. And where was that location which brought a smile to this logophile's eye?

On the road to Las Vegas, northbound traffic backed up for an estimated 27 miles after damage to the supports of the 38-year-old Oat Wash Bridge was discovered, resulting in the closure of I-15 at Zzyzx Road about 10:30 a.m.

When we get the NPL Convention to Vegas, Zzyzx, California is definitely going to have to be a highlighted point of interest.

We used to pass it all the time when we went to my grandpa's house. Each time, I'd spend at least five minutes trying to get the pronunciation right. I still does a number on my mouth.
