Neither sounds better. "I did not take the cookies from the cookie jar. Neither did I take the Mason from the Mason jar."
But:
"I did not take the cookies from the cookie jar, nor did I take the Mason from the Mason jar." sounds more natural.

"Nor" sounds more natural, but I could see "neither" on something more formal or strict or wordy.
