Tempest in a Teapawt
Wondering about yesterday's poll? It wasn't there to highlight the fact that I pronounce the first vowel sounds of "father" and "bother" the same way. See, I was watching The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show on Boomerang. To make up for the lack of commercials and pad the program to a half hour, they showed short Aquaman cartoons from the sixties. One opened with the narrator declaring: "As Tusky the Walrus carefully swam along the ocean floor, he noticed a pool of pink toxic liquid!"
Anyway, during the second cartoon, while I did the dishes, I noticed that everyone—the narrator, the villain (The Brain), Aqualad, and even Aquaman himself—pronounced the name "ACK-wa-man." Go fig.

I pronounce aqua as 'AH-kwa'. I also say 'father' and not 'fawther', and to me there is a huge difference between the two pronunciations.
I also pronounce the first vowel in father and bother the same way. But I take it that you say fawther and bawther, and not FAH-ther and BAH-ther.
(I believe R.P. is bawther, but don't take my word for it.)
think that's bad?
Oh! Anyway throughout the entire episode Superman kept mispronouncing the name of his own vehicle as the "Super Mobil." Maybe there was a subconscious gas company tie-in.
Whew! You don't know how many years I spent with this terrible secret.

I never knew this existed! I wish I never knew it existed! Marvel's lawyers must have been asleep at the switch.
