Not the TV Meme.

Because things are always better with identifications.

These are ten of my favorite shows (though they may not be my top ten ever), and each quote is from my favortite character. One correct ID per person. You have to identify series and character.

Arrrgh! A bunch of these sound so familiar... But I'm totally blanking.

"Come on everybody, Wang Chung tonight. Wang Chung or I'll kick your ass."

Is this Peter, Family Guy?

"You really can't trust the previews on this show."

This really seems like it should be Arrested Development, but I don't think anybody acknowledges they're in a TV show.

[identity profile] toonhead-npl.livejournal.com 2005-04-08 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
who sez they're actually talking about the show they're on?

The "travel size" comment was Reducto on Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law.

The penultimate one sounds like the garage sale episode of Venture Brothers, but I can't remember who said it.

And Logan (possible my favorite character on any show this season) said the "Wang Chung" line on Veronica Mars (absolutely my favorite show).

Some of the others sound familiar, but those are the ones I'm certain of.

Crap -- sorry (especially about the follow-up -- that's what I get for skimming instructions). Give me credit for Logan -- there's enough Harvey Birdman fanatics out there that others will recognize Reducto, but Veronica Mars is truly a special show.

Okay, now I'm kicking myself for not catching the "gay" comment, which was from Troy McClure on the "A Fish Called Selma" episode of The Simpsons.

And [livejournal.com profile] thedan's comments above sparked me on #1 -- Arrested Development, although if it's what I'm thinking of, it was said by the narrator.

I think I know one of them...

[identity profile] westernactor.livejournal.com 2005-04-08 11:12 am (UTC)(link)
Specifically, 3: Homer Simpson, from The Simpsons. I don't remember the context, though, unfortunately!

Darn it.

[identity profile] westernactor.livejournal.com 2005-04-08 11:16 am (UTC)(link)
Was it Lionel Hutz, then? I'm sure it was from The Simpsons...

Re: Darn it.

[identity profile] aussie-nyc.livejournal.com 2005-04-08 11:26 am (UTC)(link)
No, it was Troy McClure in The Simpsons.

Re: Darn it.

[identity profile] westernactor.livejournal.com 2005-04-08 11:27 am (UTC)(link)
Grrrrr. I was getting closer--at least I'd narrowed it down to a character voiced by Phil Hartman!

Re: I think I know one of them...

[identity profile] october31st.livejournal.com 2005-04-08 11:48 am (UTC)(link)
It was Troy McClure, the one where he's married to Marge's sister to hide his shameful, uh, fish fetish.

[identity profile] october31st.livejournal.com 2005-04-08 11:57 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, and the last one is Cowboy Bebop. I think.

[identity profile] october31st.livejournal.com 2005-04-08 12:11 pm (UTC)(link)
By Jet. Sorry. Didn't notice series and character bit.

[identity profile] foggyb.livejournal.com 2005-04-08 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Never seen the show, but #1 sounds Veronica Mars-ish (both title and character)

[identity profile] mangofandango.livejournal.com 2005-04-08 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Arrested Development and...isn't that a narrator line? I'm not sure about that. I'll go for half a point. ;)

2. Simpsons? That sounds like Homer to me.

[identity profile] mangofandango.livejournal.com 2005-04-08 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh dude, I just remembered #2 from "Russkie Business" (A VM episode.) But I see that it's already been identified, so never mind. :)

nobody got 9?

[identity profile] toonhead-npl.livejournal.com 2005-04-08 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
(damn I got beat to 3!)

9. The Venture Brothers, Brock Samson (yard sale episode)

I know 4 but I'm not going to say it since we only get one a piece and someone else is more likely to get it than 9.

6 is familar too, darn it, but I can;t place it

number 9

This message from Dino (from ifmud, I have no LJ account)

question number 9:
series: Venture Brothers
character: Brock Samson

Excellent show, Venture.

argh!

[identity profile] toonhead-npl.livejournal.com 2005-04-08 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
7 and 8 also just hit me -- of course. And if *I* know them, that's a hint in itself. (Interesting fave character choice on 8!)

#4 is Milo Reducto from Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law.

oh, well, this is bound to happen if you don't update the post.

[identity profile] orenr.livejournal.com 2005-04-09 12:15 pm (UTC)(link)
5 is Grace from Joan of Arcadia. Identified by the second quote, probably 'cause I'm watching it on reruns on local TV and still in the middle of season 1.

[identity profile] orenr.livejournal.com 2005-04-09 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Was my reply somehow skipped over? 'Cause I see someone below was already credited on another line.

[identity profile] thedan.livejournal.com 2005-04-09 12:50 pm (UTC)(link)
7 = Aqua Teen Hunger Force, the evil doctor whose name I can't remember? (The one from the beginning of each ep.)

whoops

[identity profile] toonhead-npl.livejournal.com 2005-04-09 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
before the extra hint on 7, my guess was Ignignokt, thinking he was forming the quad laser with Err

(c'mon, people, 8's a gimme now)

Re: whoops

[identity profile] fuldu.livejournal.com 2005-04-09 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
8 a gimme, maybe, but here's me taking my best guess:

Alien newscaster from Futurama. I know he has a name, but I can't recall what it is. And, if that's not right, then it's not such a gimme, is it?

[identity profile] fuldu.livejournal.com 2005-04-09 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
It occurs to me that the way I posted it, joecab will get notified, not tablesaw.

8: Alien newscaster from Futurama.

[identity profile] fuldu.livejournal.com 2005-04-09 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Curious. I don't get notification of all comments, just the ones that head a new thread or respond to my own comments. I wonder if I have a setting wrong somewhere.

Morbo, Futurama.

[identity profile] toonhead-npl.livejournal.com 2005-04-15 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
Well all those fiery quotes make me wanna guess at a likely candidate ... are we still limited to just one a piece?

[identity profile] jessnichole.livejournal.com 2005-04-18 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
I know number 6... Am I allowed to answer? (I found your lj through cultfilm_icons)

Moltar said it in Space Ghost, on the episode called "Sleeper"...
