Beat Tablesaw's Family.

For the fourth year in a row, I've designed an after-dinner game for my extended maternal family.

This year's game went through a lot of variations, but eventually, I settled on using the IMDB game combined with the Amazon.com game I featured in an earlier post. ALthough the mechanic was the same, I changed the game rules from when I presented this to the LA NPL and [livejournal.com profile] ifmud. Instead of five keywords per movie, I thought it would be better to spread things out among ten clues. This meant that each correct answer could be worth as many as ten points. Also since I was dealing with a group of about forty people of varying skill levels, I divided them into two teams. Instead of being limited to only one guess per clue, I gave each team ten guesses total, to be used whenever they wanted. It worked out pretty well, once people understood how everything worked, and by the end of the game, people were having lots and lots of fun.

So as not to let this go to waste (since I will, again, be missing the next local NPL party), I'm presenting it here. Although I prepared about ten clues for each, I'm only presenting (to my best memory) the clues that were used needed before someone in my family guessed correctly. Only one correct guess per list. That means you can have a total of two, only if you pick a book and a movie.

First, the books. The first ten are general books, and the second ten are all children's literature.

I'll take "low-hanging fruit" for 100.

I really hope my guess for A is right... we'll see.

I'll snag #11 from the first list - The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. And I'll think about the second list but I suspect I won't be able to guess any of them.

T is Home Alone, and I'm sad for myself.

[identity profile] tahnan.livejournal.com 2006-01-03 09:19 am (UTC)(link)
You'll simply have to believe that I knew many of these, but of those left, I can only guess that #2 is "Tuesdays with Morrie".

I'm at a loss on the movies, but I'm not up on Christmas films, so.

(Anonymous) 2006-01-03 01:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I've already idenitified a movie, but I'm amazed no one has gotten Q.

[identity profile] hahathor.livejournal.com 2006-01-03 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Me too - I'm thinking that everyone had the same reaction that I did, and decided to leave it for someone else while they guessed at something else they knew.

Except [livejournal.com profile] tahnan of course.

[identity profile] la-sonnambula.livejournal.com 2007-04-13 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow. This is really difficult. I can't think of a single one.
