Yeah, it's a bit petty, but I'm really upset that instead of taping Veronica Mars last night, I taped an hour of local coverage of the Griffith Park fire. I mean, if I'd woken up an hour earlier, I could've watched House instead. Other channels did an interesting compromise where they preempted the commercials but not the show. I have to imagine that it's a good way to keep the ratings up.

On the other hand, I'm more upset that so much of Griffith Park is burning. I was hoping to get to hike up there soon. I'll probably do it anyway—burned areas have their own eerie charm—but I would have liked to have seen Dante's View.

I downloaded it last night and watched it this morning. These episodes are such a disappointment with respect to the great first season. Still enjoyable enough, though, I guess. They weren't too heavy-handed with the relationship drama in this one.

It was fascinating seeing the burnt-out section of the Maze on our way into San Francisco last Saturday. By my judgement, it's about as long as a Dukes of Hazzard jump.
