Opening Ceremonies

I woke up late, so I'm catching the Opening Ceremonies on the DVR. The opening performances were absolutely incredible.

But really, NBC. The only thing you can come up with to say about Malawi is "Hey, Americans, you've heard of this country! It's where Madonna adopted that kid!"

At least they said something about it, unlike returning from commercial breaks where they fast forward through 4 or 5 nations. "Oh, hey, here's Comoros! Moving on!" But at least it's something, unlike the live US coverage some years back where they skipped entire nations during the commercial break.

It's up there with all the tai chi performers doing "karate," according to one of the announcers.

Yes, but I can understand having to cut away occasionally. After all, it is a live broadcast.
