Things to Do

  • Read more. I feel like my reading speed has gotten a bit slower, which I don't mind. But I have a bigger problem with keeping momentum with books. This has much to do, as I mentioned earlier, with not being able to find books.
    • Related: Can anyone give me advice on which fiction podcasts you listen to?
  • Comment more. I can usually bring myself to post something, even if it's shallwo and egotistical, but I've been feeling hesitant about commenting on others' journals. I'm going to be making an effort to do so for a while. If you're wondering why I'm suddenly commenting on your journal, this is why.
  • Run. Yeah, my running schedule is off again. Time to get back on that.
  • Mystery Hunt. I've been in a funk. I need to get out of it. Now.
WedNYSX: 10:30 (really?). ThuNYTX: 8:30. Solved without hint; 27D is badly misphrased. ThuNYSX: 6:30. Long entries fell quickly; 14A seems a stretch. ThuLATX: 7:30.

Fiction podcasts I listen to, alphabetically:
The Classic Tales
Clonepod
Cory Doctorow's podcast (mix of fiction and interviews)
Drabblecast (mixed quality, may not keep)
Escape Pod
Jim Kelly's Free Reads (hasn't updated in a while, but hopefully he'll have more time for it soon)
Metamor City
PodCastle
Pseudopod
Time Traveler (mix of fiction and interviews, hasn't updated in a while)
Variant Frequencies

Radio/Radio-style Dramas:
Agatha [Christie] Presents Mysteries
ComicWeb Old Time Radio
Decoder Ring Theater

Other, fiction-esque/fiction related:
The Pinkwater Podcast (radio essays, sketches, miscellany)

I also listen to several NPR podcasts. One of these days, I'll get around to doing a podcast roundup post.

Yeah, that's why I separated them. They both scratch the same "story" itch for me, and Decoder Ring Theater is modern original stories in a pulp/classic radio style rather than actual classic radio, so I figured even if they weren't quite what you want, they might interest some other comment-reader.

Sorry -- don't own any technolgies for podcast playback!

But I am the exact opposite -- I have almost no blocks against commenting in other people's blogs, but rarely get my shit together to post in my own. :) Hi!

I loved your comment on my journal. Thanks!

I don't listen to any podcasts about fiction, but I generally don't have trouble finding interesting stuff in ten minutes of browsing at the library. Though maybe my book-choosing algorithim is too broad.

I don't do podcasts, but I borrow audiobooks from the public library. They also offer MP3 downloads on audiobooks, which may work for you if your library does something similar.

I have listened to all the mysteries of Diane Mott Davidson and most of MC Beaton's, all the Harry Potter, and what I can get of Agatha Christie. I also like John Grisham, especially the one about high school football that he read himself. I didn't like the guy who read his other stuff as much.

Anything with Jim Dale, Davina Porter or Donada Peters as the reader is worth listening to.
