Earthquake in LA.

5.0 near Inglewood at 8:40 p.m. PDT.

A 5 is just about the level where some minor damage can start to occur. It was pretty near LAX, too. On the other hand, I'm not hearing much news, so I imagine nothing to bad happened over there.

By the time it hit Hollywood, it was pretty gentle, though it lasted a few seconds. Long enough for me to know that it was seriously felt somewhere.

I was at LAX when it hit. Despite living in the Bay Area for a year and a half, this was the first earthquake I felt. And it came at the end of a weekend of bad luck piled on top of bad luck, so my travel companion and I could do nothing but laugh and laugh. At least it didn't delay our flight.
