Climbing Mount Manpain.

Organized my DVDs while blathering to amythyst about the various manifestations of manpain in the TV shows I watch. I blame kate_nepveu in the short term for jogging critical thinking on Burn Notice and mswyrr in the long term for introducing me to the concept of mainpain.

That page (especially the flowchart) helped me understand the various attitudes of manpain, from "randomly attributed to secondary character by fandom for their own reasons" (Draco in Leather Pants) to "enshrined by canon arguably the entire point of the show" (hello, Mulder).

Also, internet research uncovered this gem, which you may have forgotten. I guess I should add to the fanlore page.
