Hey, Guys! Festivids! Festivids, Guys!

Festivids—a fanvid equivalent of Yuletide, where people anonymously make vids of smaller fandoms as gifts—went online today. There is some seriously awesome stuff in here.

Full list of vids

Some of the ones I love so far:

I'm not really a fan of the Johnny Cash version of "Hurt," but pairing it with Bruce Wayne circa Batman Beyond is brilliant.

Blade Runner + GnR's "November Rain." I just watched it a seconf time showing it to a friend and I like it even more.

I am a sucker for "Tik Tok" vids: Back to the Future, Scott Pilgrim

I have many fans of Danny Kaye's The Court Jester on my reading list.

The fact that I am able to make specific recommendations has a lot to do with the fact that I've only seen a few.

I am a fan of Danny Kaye who's never seen The Court Jester. Obviously I must correct this terrible oversight on my part post haste!

OH MY GOD. Sorry, jumping in to say OH MY GOD. IT'S HIS BEST MOVIE. YOU HAVE TO SEE IT IMMEDIATELY OH MY GOD. IT'S SO BRILLIANT AND HILARIOUS AND TAILOR MADE FOR HIS SKILLS.

Ahem. I will be calm now.

WAIT NO I'M NOT DONE - IT'S GOT ANGELA LANSBURY AND GLYNIS JOHNS AND BASIL RATHBONE.

:D THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY. I'VE TRIED OTHER FILMS HE DID, AND BEEN, UM, EITHER VAGUELY PLEASED OR TERRIBLY DISAPPOINTED. THERE'S THIS ONE WHERE HE PLAYS TWINS AND IT WAS AWFUL AND IT MADE ME FLINCH FROM TRYING MORE OF HIS STUFF.

SO I AM HAPPY TO KNOW THERE'S SOMETHING GOOD OF HIS TO VIEW. YES.

I had such a crush on him in my youth. FIERCE CRUSH. Looking back, it was obviously a foretaste of a long life attracted to dudes who express non-traditional masculinity. :)

Yes, that's it exactly - his skills are awesome but his vehicles are often disappointing. BUT NOT THE COURT JESTER, SEE, THAT'S THE ONE WHERE IT ALL WORKS.

Okay. I will let you go forth and watch and I will not even quote every line in the movie at you. Admire my restraint.

!!!!!

BTW, I don't know if you follow the Nerdfighters, but they did a YouTube video about tongue twisters back in December that is, like most of their videos, composed almost entirely of joy.

Hee! I've never heard of them but that was cute - I loved the part about tongue twisters in languages other than English.

*drive by comment*

And now you will know what the hell they're talking about every time another movie or show starts doing the Who's on First Pellet with the Poison routine! :D The slapstick fights and the goblet routines in this movie have seriously been referenced a ridiculous number of times.

I take full responsibility for that fault. I assumed we all watched Hans Christian Anderson AND the Court Jester on TV. Obviously, I missed that one. Damn! One more parenting error. Oh well, I recommend it wholeheartedly. Dated, but funny.
