In case you were wondering...

...the male version of nymphomania is satyriasis.

Sunday was a lot of fun. Friends and family stopped by for various periods of time and partook of the foods I had laid out for them. I got my favorite Santa Barbara salsa and served it in the ceramic chip-and-salsa bowl I got from my uncle. I also bought a cutting board and used it to display some good cheeses: Brie, apple-smoked Mozzarella, and Double Gloucester with Stilton. I also served some chocolate-covered red licorice that people enjoyed.

Everyone got the grand tour, which I hope to duplicate this week with the aid of my digital camera. Unfortunately, since it became dark rather early, few got a real good look at the foundation of my patio. On Friday, it had been a wide hole in the ground, but by Sunday, there was a wide well around the tree, perfect for sitting on, and a foundation for concrete all around.

Early in the evening, when lots of family was present, it was a standard talking and chatting affair. Later on, when it was just the friends my age, things got more interesting. For a while, we went through some of the odd stuff I've left around, and many people wanted to know about the internet stalkers who had threatened to show up later. As things got quieter, I flipped on Adult Swim. Not an incredible amount of attention was paid to it, but enough to get many people addicted to some shows.

Eventually, [livejournal.com profile] cruciverbalist and [livejournal.com profile] spacebanana did show up, probably waking up my landlords three times in the process. After they were given the okay by the friends who had stayed to ensure that I wasn't kidnapped, a good time was had by all. [livejournal.com profile] cruciverbalist hadn't eaten any dinner yet, so I made a pizza using the pizza sheet I had purchased that morning.

Which brings me to my housewarming gifts, of which I received a wide range, not all of which I will remember here at work. I received some magnetic picture frames, some plates, a wine bottle holder with a starter bottle, some cheese, a duck-adorned soft toilet seat (from someone who knows how much I love my lav), some other items I can't recall and two pizza sheets. "Wait a minute," you protest, "didn't you just say that you bought a pizza sheet that morning?" Indeed I did. Now I have three.

[livejournal.com profile] wjukknibs showed up and was able to eat some of the pizza, and eventually everyone left. And I was happy.

Monday, I did nothing. At all. It was fun.

On Monday night, [livejournal.com profile] spacebanana IMed me asking if I would help entertain her on Tuesday morning because she planned on not having a job in the valley. I said I would, and paged her after 9 on Tuesday, when she asked me to. I was surprised, then to have [livejournal.com profile] cruciverbalist return my call. (Apparently Ms. Banana was in a Vons parking lot and running out of quarters.) Not knowing, really, what to do, and having some extra store credit for Software, etc., I suggested we meet at the Northridge Mall, since the Vons was over in that direction.

On the way, I thought I'd stop by my bank and deal with my change of address forms. I'd forgotten that in the months I haven't been able to visit, that branch had been closed. Oops.

At the store, I purchased a used copy of Starfox Adventure, which I hope to have much enjoyment from. I also picked up two DVDs: Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and Session One of Cowboy Bebop. I've been meaning to start watching the show, hearing nothing but good things about it, but I was usually only able to catch snippets. It didn't help that it was on while I'm at work on Saturday nights. But last week, I was relocated to a different office and placed in a room with a large, cable-connected television set, so I watched an episode while working. It was marvelous, impressing even my normally reserved coworker. Amazingly enough, that turned out to be episode one. I picked up the DVD so I could watch it again without having to look for commas at the same time.

Meanwhile, the dynamic duo arrived and scanned the shelves looking for things to relieve Ms. Banana's boredom, though they found nothing. Afterward, we walked through the mall, searching, at Ms. Banana's request, for a things that she kind of knew what it was but wasn't sure what it was called or how it was pronounced. Shockingly, we had no luck. We did have lunch (dinner for me) at the food court. Later, we stopped by The Game Keeper, and I picked up a game called Zombies!, which has, as its major selling point, one hundred plastic zombie figurines. Anyone up for a Halloween game night?

It had gotten late, so I drove home and got some sleep. At work, since it was slow, I got some major work done on my Muse puzzle. To whit, I constructed the grid of, filled the grid of, and clued the answers to a variety cryptic crossword. I finished up some revisions made a nice computer grid today, so that's two out of nine down. I'm about halfway done on the next one too. I may even have a play-testable version ready by Halloween.

One final note, I'm locked out of my home on Saturday as the final touches get put in on the patio. Or locked in, depending on how I decide to deal with it. Outside my patio door, they'll be pouring concrete, which can't be walked on. Outside my front door, they'll be resetting the concrete so that it doesn't flood during the rain, which can't be walked on. So either I go in and stay in until it dries, or I get out and stay out until it dries. I think I'm going to opt for the latter.
