Angel thoughts.

So, here's how you save Fred and not kill thousands of people:

Prepare spell.

Jump into bottomless hole in the earth.

Cast spell when at or approximately near the center of the earth.

Elder god teleports to the well through the center of the earth, not creating an airborne path of destruction.

Grab hold of bridge on opposite side of earth and get a jet back home. Alternately, don't grab hold of the antipodean bridge and let gravity return you to the original bridge.

The End.

Exactly my thought. I don't get why that wouldn't have worked or why Angel and Spike didn't think of it.

If that were the case, wouldn't Illyria take the direct underground route to England rather than going overland?

Method 2:

Fly to antipodean well.
Take Fred to the beach.
Prepare and cast spell.

Or,

1. Fly Fred to England.
2. Cast spell right frickin there, so the soul has no one to go through at all.
3. Profit.

I wouldn't count on there necessarily being an antipodean bridge, as I think that was just poetic speculation by Spike (although if it was verified, I may have missed it as I was distracted while watching.)

As for the gravity plan, how much physics (and how recently) do you think Spike 'n' Angel have taken?
