Remote Control Update (Filtered)

Things have been rough the last few weeks, and I had to postpone a lot of trivia writing until this weekend. But when I looked at things this morning, I realized I had almost enough for a basic game, which means that if I pad out a few categories, things will be just fine. I still need to record a bunch of the skits, but I've got a start on that, and I'm going to write some more before bed.

Things to be recorded (and, yes, I'm going to e-mail you today before I go to bed, [livejournal.com profile] thefreak): The Narcoleptic Talk Show Host (script below). A Ranger Bob standin (wacky character says wacky things for a bit and the contestant loses ten points for no real reason; to be improvised wholly by whomever records it), The Slash Channel (identify shows based on very short snippets of slash fanfic), and anything else suggested in the next day or so.

Below the cut, there's a list of the categories I have. As you can see, I focused on '80s and '90s trivia, just as the MTV version of twenty years ago focused on the '60s and '70s. I'm considering expanding The Denver Channel into a lightning round, but I need to know how the buzzers work before I do. Answers aren't listed, so feel free to use this link to post your guesses before reading the comments.

Law & Order #3 is kind of confusingly worded - do you mean what series from any genre in any timeslot (i.e. not necessarily primetime or drama or American) holds the record, what primetime drama series previously held the record that Law & Order is about to break, or do you mean that Law & Order is the longest-running series currently on the air and what now-defunct show holds the all-time record?

(I think the answer you're looking for is "Gunsmoke" but it depends on what exactly you're asking with that question.)

Also, Hillman College is fictional so you might want to explicate that.

That actually sounds perfect!

This is all making me really wish not only that Remote Control was still on the air, but that I could play it. :)

Law and Order #1 - shouldn't that be five words? or am I confabulating?

Wait...

The original follows those five with "the." SVU has those five words followed by "sexually." In TBJ, they're followed by "all." And apparently CI doesn't use them at all???

OK, I'm really lost now.

Ah, yes, clarification = good. :)

This is actually fun to read - I had forgotten how much I enjoyed this show back in the day, but I'm now remembering that I watched it pretty regularly!

Ya know, I don't sound half as awful as I feared. It's pretty bad, but not pitiful. Your mother was amazed at what I would do for my son. I just had faith in you. I figured you heard something in my singing voice that I didn't. I still would have preferred a Christmas carol or a Broadway musical number. Next time ask me to sing "Some Enchanted Evening".

I love you,

Dad

Sure, I release you to name your source. There is nothing more liberating than coming out of the Song Closet.

It was a great category. (And a great game. And a great son.)
