Friends, Romans, Bloggers.

As of now, I have fifty people lifted on my livejournal friends list. I promised myself a while ago that I wouldn't ever have more than that, so it's time to take stock. Everyone on my friends list is interesting to me in some way, so I thought others might be interested to know what I find so interesting. (Attention meme propagaters: consider this a challenge.)

A Rundown of Tablesaw's LJ Friends.

[livejournal.com profile] aislingthoughts is a wonderful find from my first encounters with the random button. She's an endearing young woman who writes very engagingly about the joys and turmoil of her life.

[livejournal.com profile] bambii was found in comments to [livejournal.com profile] fauxpas's journal. She doesn't post very often, but when she does, it's usually brief and enlightening and/or witty.

[livejournal.com profile] blistex is the first friend added from my Friend of a Friend page. She's listed as a friend of [livejournal.com profile] bambii and [livejournal.com profile] caradrina and has some relatively interesting stuff herself. A recent addition, I'm interested enough to see how her life develops.

[livejournal.com profile] caradrina, a friend of [livejournal.com profile] bambii, writes occasionally and cryptically. She also has the best polls I've ever seen.

[livejournal.com profile] cassieclaire writes the very very very funny Secret Diaries of Lord of the Rings. She's not writing write now, but come December . . .

[livejournal.com profile] cruciverbalist is a new addition, added because she lives in LA and is named "cruciverbalist." Her posts are long, but personally I enjoy reading the journal of someone who has the possibility of listening to the same radio stations as I do.

[livejournal.com profile] davidglasser is a member of [livejournal.com profile] ifmud. Thanks to me, he's also a member of the NPL. Go him!

[livejournal.com profile] emshort is another [livejournal.com profile] ifmud member. She's also a brilliant writer. Further, she was one of a few [livejournal.com profile] ifmudders with whom I vacationed in North Carolina.

[livejournal.com profile] fauxpas (definitely not to be confused with [livejournal.com profile] faux_pas) is someone I found because she lists grammar and proofreading among her interests. (At least, I think she listed proofreading. She doesn't now.) She's a talented artist, and has a razor-sharp, caustic wit.

[livejournal.com profile] grunk is one of my favorite journals of all time. He is an orc living in the world created by [livejournal.com profile] sargent. (Sargent doesn't write Grunk's journal, though. Admiral Jota, a different [livejournal.com profile] ifmud member, does.) To say more would ruin the joy that is this webjournal. Go read it.

[livejournal.com profile] heartichoke is another person who posts brief, occasional, cryptic and beautiful posts. She sings opera. Beyond that, I rarely am able to understand the specifics of what she writes about. Still fun to read, though.

[livejournal.com profile] highersoul is another random find. She's in Canada, and she has a band and a cool guitar effect pedal.

[livejournal.com profile] huskyscotsman is another [livejournal.com profile] ifmud guy that I met in North Carolina. Also, c'mon! Look at those userpics!

[livejournal.com profile] inkylj is still another denizen of [livejournal.com profile] ifmud who was at the North Carolina beach house. He hasn't updated in quite a while and probably won't any time soon. But if he does, I'm watching you!!!!

By now, you may be wondering what [livejournal.com profile] ifmud is. Well, it's a MUD where many intelligent people meet and hang out and talk all the live long day. They are general drawn there by an interest in Interactive Fiction, but it gets all sorts. I've met many interesting people there. On the mud, there's be a growing trend for people to get LJ accounts; accordingly, many of my LJ friends are from the mud. Also, several mud denizens organized a vacation to North Carolina that I attended, and many of my fellow attendees also have webjournals. That, along with other meetings, has allowed me to meet many of these people IRL.

[livejournal.com profile] kissaki added me to her friends list, after seeing me on the friends list of [livejournal.com profile] neitherday. (I've since stopped following neitherday's journal.) I added her to mine because I adored her views on her Mexicanicity. She writes Harry Potter slashfic, a concept I find both disturbing and fascinating.

[livejournal.com profile] kizlj is yet another [livejournal.com profile] ifmudder. She's a journalist, and uses her journal as a booklog.

[livejournal.com profile] limax I met when I traveled to San Francisco last year. He doesn't update all that often either, tending to give his life updates on [livejournal.com profile] ifmud.

[livejournal.com profile] lipogram is a fictional journal that [livejournal.com profile] nothings is writing. It's usually amusing and crafty, and occasionally it's just plain fascinating. It lacks a particular thing, though, and I can't tell you what it is.

[livejournal.com profile] liza31337 has nothing to do with hacking. It's the breakfast log of an [livejournal.com profile] ifmudder from North Carolina. No, seriously, it's just a breakfast log. Nothing but breakfast. Every day. And it's wonderful. I am constantly amazed at how eloquently one can write about toasted bagels.

[livejournal.com profile] lno is on the [livejournal.com profile] ifmud. He likes pork. 'Nuff said.

[livejournal.com profile] luxnightmare is a new addition. She's a friend of [livejournal.com profile] aislingthoughts and a very interesting post showed up on my FOAF page. Despite only having read her journal for a little while, she has already shown up in my dreams.

[livejournal.com profile] mangofandango is YANMOIFM (yet another member of [livejournal.com profile] ifmud). She has intersting entries, then they stopped. I guess she's focusing on her other weblog.

[livejournal.com profile] merde got mentioned on [livejournal.com profile] ifmud because of a funny post. She was a friend of both [livejournal.com profile] nothings and [livejournal.com profile] swisscheesed, so I thought I'd add her. I skip over a lot of what she writes right now, but on the whole, I still enjoy her entries, particularly her strange recounting of her games of The Sims.

[livejournal.com profile] miseri is also from [livejournal.com profile] ifmud, and I have yet to meet him in person. Too bad, I think; I really enjoy his journal. I can't really explain why. It's just very simple and easy to read and enjoy.

[livejournal.com profile] moominmolly is a friend of [livejournal.com profile] veek. She's a fun writer. She likes muffins.

[livejournal.com profile] natecull is from [livejournal.com profile] ifmud. (My goodness there are a lot of them.) He's in New Zealand, so I am logged in at the same time that he is. As such, I am usually around for his expressions of existential, vocational and spiritual angst. Actually, I pay more attention to that than to the journal, but the journal sometimes fills in some gaps.

[livejournal.com profile] nothings started his journal posting short, obscure entries. He has since gotten slightly more invested in his journal. He's also a very talented and experienced programmer, so it's interesting to read about his opinions about video games. He also wrote a kickass laser game. And he too is on [livejournal.com profile] ifmud.

[livejournal.com profile] orenr lives in Israel, but flew all the way to North Carolina just to hang out with his friends from [livejournal.com profile] ifmud. He's just a cool guy.

A boring day at work coupled with the ever inviting random button brought me to [livejournal.com profile] original_sinner. You won't see much if you visit because most of her posts are for friends only. I'm not really sure why I read her journal. I think that a lot of it has to do with her beautiful and haunting user pics.

[livejournal.com profile] pbmath is another North Carolina-visiting [livejournal.com profile] ifmudder. Like [livejournal.com profile] natecull, he's got a lot of angst, and like [livejournal.com profile] orenr, he's a cool guy. Some of my favorite stuff from him is friends-locked, so I can't tell you about it, but he did win an award named for himself in the Little Lytton Contest".

[livejournal.com profile] playingpossum is living with her sister, [livejournal.com profile] swisscheesed. Their journals have started to overlap as a result, so I added [livejournal.com profile] playingpossum today. I really don't know all that much about her yet.

[livejournal.com profile] quinnclub is a new and close friend of [livejournal.com profile] veek. His posts are friends-only, but I'm not on his friends list, so I have no idea what's going on with him.

[livejournal.com profile] sargent is a very evil man trying to take over the world. One would never expect how banal a pursuit this can be. Sargent is also an [livejournal.com profile] ifmudder writing this fictional weblog. I met him in North Carolina, and he's a really funny guy in person too. It kind of makes me wish he had a real journal as well.

[livejournal.com profile] sarrabellum was found on using the "Find similar members" toy that's available only to paid LJ members. She lists grammar and proofreading in her interests, so she was fairly high on my list. A hilarious post put her on my friends list, and after a short hiatus, she has posted some very interesting stuff about her life. I also stole a joke from her.

[livejournal.com profile] saxikath is a member of the National Puzzlers League and she also showed up high on my "similar users" list. I've communicated with her briefly during NPL chats. She pretty much explains herself.

I added [livejournal.com profile] sineala just the other day, and for the life of me, I can't remember how I found the journal. But I thought her stuff looked interesting, so I started following. I'm still "test driving," but so far it's been enjoyable. I really enjoy reading what students of linguistics write. [Edit: I remember how I found sineala, and boy was it random. I did a Google Search for System's Twilight and found her website.]

[livejournal.com profile] sinsselfchosen replied to some comments on [livejournal.com profile] aislingthoughts's journal, and I started reading. SSC posts sporadically, and it's usually incredibly hard to tell who is who, but they entries are still usually very moving, all the same.

[livejournal.com profile] sivet is another find from [livejournal.com profile] aislingthoughts. (You have a lot of interesting friends, Aisling.) Specifically, Aisling mentioned Sivet's posts about education. Since a good deal of my family is interested in education, I started following it. It's still a lot of fun as she has started taking a class about education.

[livejournal.com profile] solipsiae was located out of comments to [livejournal.com profile] fauxpas's journal. (Your friends are pretty interesting too, fauxpas.) She just moved back to Texas, and now she has a cute cat.

I added [livejournal.com profile] starsinmybelly today for reasons similar to [livejournal.com profile] playingpossum, her journal is starting to heavily overlap [livejournal.com profile] fauxpas's. I don't know much else thus far.

[livejournal.com profile] storme was worried that by the time I got to her, I'd be bored. Kind of silly, since I've been looking forward to writing about her. I met her on [livejournal.com profile] ifmud and spent time with her in North Carolina, where I found that she is incredibly easy to talk to, especially if one is willing to go outside and brave a little cigarette smoke. I think she should post more, or maybe I just wish I could spend more time hanging out with her.

[livejournal.com profile] swisscheesed listed interactive fiction as an interest. She also wrote short things that were funny, but hard to understand. After reading her journal for quite a while now, her messages make a lot more sense. Since she keeps her posts short, one needs dedication to get into the swing of things, but she is a terrific writer. She also has a new kitty who, in my opinion is even cuter than [livejournal.com profile] solipsiae's new kitty.

[livejournal.com profile] tafkar is another close, new friend of [livejournal.com profile] veek, and as such she is definitely deserving of interest. She is also interesting on her own, although she is currently going through a tough time.

[livejournal.com profile] tamaraland was found through an odd stream of LJ surfing. Her life is very interesting. She works for the United Nations, lives in Europe and travels a lot. I used to be on her friends list, which detailed a lot of the more gritty details of her globe-hopping, but now I am limited to the odd rant on international bureaucracy, which is a very strange thing indeed.

[livejournal.com profile] trentm let me crash at his place when I visited New York, which was very cool of him, considering I only knew him from [livejournal.com profile] ifmud. He is another cool guy who's just getting his journal started. Go him!

[livejournal.com profile] veek is an amazing person. I met her on [livejournal.com profile] ifmud, got to meet her in real life, talk to her online quite often, and respect her opinion and insight regarding just about everything. Her journal isn't updated often enough for my taste, which makes sense because she's researching a massive project, RolandHT. In short, she rocks.

[livejournal.com profile] watermelonpunch responded to a lot of [livejournal.com profile] fauxpas's journal, and I eventually added her to my own. She lives in a small, hyphenated town in Northern Pennsylvania, and takes lots of pictures.

I stumbled upon [livejournal.com profile] zephine this other day when I ran an interest search on Pink Martini, and I really liked her webiste. I'm still trying out this journal, so I can't tell you much more.

And finally, [livejournal.com profile] zrblm. He's a cool guy. He's an [livejournal.com profile] ifmudder. Whoa! he looks like Julian, man!

I don't think I've ever listed proofreading as an interest -- but copy-editing has been on that list since I started this journal, I think.

Thanks for all the compliments. :)
This was an interesting entry.

I live in a small town called Edwardsville, which is near Wilkes-Barre - and Wilkes-Barre is a small city, in northeastern Pennsylvania.

I guess I do take a lot of photos. heh.

Here
is an explanation of the whole Julian thing, for what it's worth. Personally, I don't see that much resemblance.

What a good meme! Also, I didn't know that there was a friendsfriends list. How fun!

I might try this, but it'd take a bit o work. We'll see if I get off my duff enough.
