As mentioned earlier,
inkylj is going to be running an game of the RPG Nobilis. I've just about wrapped up my character, so I thought I'd put it up here, for interested parties. It might be helpful to read a summary of the system or refer to a general crib sheet. As mentioned before, I will be playing a demigod with control over puzzles of all kinds.
Gerald ("Gerry") Spinks, Duke of Puzzles, Radiant
Description:
Gerry Spinks was a senior at college majoring in Mathematics. He was an avid puzzle solver and constructor, having already sent out several to national outlets. On campus, he added crossword puzzles and other teasers at the school newspaper and ran an MIT-Mystery-Hunt-like contest for students. He planned to attend graduate school, pursuing advanced mathematics. Something like that. He wasn't really sure, but the idea of staying firmly locked in academia really appealed to him. In fact, he was going to be staying at the same college to do his graduate work. Then he got Ennobled. Now he's in a real ivory tower.
Gerry is rather average looking, surprisingly so, considering that he's the Marquis of Puzzledom, tall, thin, with piercing, searching eyes behind his rather thick glasses. Although very intelligent, he can be slightly obsessive about things in his domain. He will not let a puzzle go unsolved or an intellectual challenge go unmet. He's also fidgety and must always have something occupying his hands.

Gifts:
- Inscrutable (not quite clear how this works, but a lower-level of Soul-Twisted, I think. Since he himself appears to be a puzzle, it is difficult to predict his actions or comprehend his motives. May be compelled to tell the truth but not to answer directly. Does not overpower handicaps below, that is, it will be easier to identify him because he's carrying lots of puzzle stuff and it's not hard to notice that he can't refuse a challenge if it comes up. Regardless, this is only a one-point gift, so it's not incredibly powerful. I'm waiting on
inkylj's approval to finalize the description.)
Handicaps:
- Always has to keep his hands busy, and is often equipped with elements of his Estate to satisfy this craving (Rubik's Cube, Palm Pilot with Sokoban, crossword puzzle and pencil, etc.). If deprived of such stimulation, he can become extremely distracted.
- Cannot refuse an intellectual challenge.
- Focus: One point of Aspect is focused in his glasses. (He's the opposite of Superman!)
Affiliation: Code of Light
Goal: To raise the intelligence and cognitive ability of the entire human race.
Bonds:
- His ex-girlfriend, Jenny (5)
- His reputation in the real world as a puzzle maker (4) (could be degraded if his puzzles were seen as boring, unfair or too easy)
- The grave of his parents (3)
- His Alma Mater (2)
- The beach near his school (2)
- His stuffed Teddy bear, Super Bear (2)
- His first Rubik's Cube (1)
- The Works of Tom Lehrer (1)
