I should have planned for a three-day weekend after my thirteen-day week. After staying cooped up for so long, I was finally energized to do, well, just about anything really. I was refurbishing my computer and trying to set up a new ISP in anticipation of my upcoming move. Unfortunately, a driver ceased functioning, and I need to reload it. But even at 2 p.m. I was feeling strong and ready to do anything. Of course I couldn't, since I had to work.

Speaking of a new ISP, my AOL account is probably going south relatively soon. I don't think anyone reading this uses that email address anymore, but I'm going to have to switch out my AIM ID pretty soon.

In general, I've got a whole lot of energy building up as I anticipate my relocation. I'm overdue for a change of scenery.

MonNYTX: 4. MonLATX: 3:45. TueNYTX: 4. TueLATX: 5. WedNYTX: 11:30. I think that 48D involves knowledge a little bit too arcane. WedLATX: 5:30.

I've been not-connecting with T. for a while now. It's frustrating. Between her trip to Mexico and my overloaded work schedule all we've had are a few emails and a brief "hi" during Mass. I don't like it, and I think I'm going to ask her out to another movie.

Let's get one thing straight.

A horrible Europeanized depiction of Saint Juan DiegoThis is NOT what Juan Diego looked like. Juan Diego was an Indian. He did not have a beard. He was not white. He was not European. He was a poor, practically enslaved man living under the oppression of his conquerors. THAT'S THE WHOLE FREAKING POINT! So why is this the official image that will be printed on prayer cards for the saint being canonized as I type? Because it's based on the "most accurate" depiction of Juan Diego that exists. Of course, "during the spanish colony, Indians were often painted to look European, to enhance their status," according to Elio Masferrer, an anthropologist and historian. So the Vatican is not being racist on their own, their just refusing to correct the racism of the past.

Now this is St. Juan Diego.
