Cat Scratch Fever.
Aug. 10th, 2004 11:26 amI did go geocaching on Sunday, accompanied by
llaird. We went out to the far-north valley to try a 2.5 mile trail loop with ten caches, but between the heat and llaird's lack of blood (Hooray for donors!), we stopped early. It was fun, and we got some nice views of the valley. I did, however, lead us down a very, very wrong path to find the first cache, which led to some failed attempts to get to where we were supposed to be. I fell down a few times, and ended up with a bunch of scratches on one of my arm. Coupled with the emptied flea smorgasborgs that are my lower legs, I'm closed to being itchy all over.
But it was a lot of fun. We hit three other locations before we turned back and headed home. I found one,
llaird found another, and we both horribly failed to find the third. I think I'll be able to snag her for another trip sometime. When it's not burning hot.
Last year, I watched a little bit of Joe Schmo, but not much. It was interesting, but not interesting enough to really hold one's interest. Part of that was because their "mark" was incredibly dumb. He just kind of sat their with the same blank reaction shot for everything that happened.
Well, the Joe Schmo 2 marathon is on right now, leading up to the finale later on tonight. It's very different. Instead of spoofing the Survivor/Big Brother shows, this season is spoofing the dating-show-style show. And everything's a lot better. The writing and performances are much better, and midway through, they shifted from outrageous surreality to more normal surreality. (When the "parents" of the "bachelor" arrive for dinner, the flaws in their "marriage" came out very believably.) The Schmos are much more engaged, as well. They've discovered that their perfect mark is someone who is too serious about the game, and who wants to have a good time on vacation on television. And lastly, their editing has been ratcheted way up. It's tight and hilarious.
Also, I've refound Zelda Classic. Made it through the first quest up to the sixth dungeon before having to stop. And it comes with a quest editor. I'm going to ahve to look into that.
So, the fleas are supposed to be dead like today or tomorrow.
We shall see. We shall see.
