tablesaw: A young Shawn Spencer learns proper saw technique from his dad. (Cartoon)
J. is tomorrow, so for our last meal, we went to a restaurant I always want to go to more often, Simon's Cafe. It's around the corner from my house, it has fantastic food, and the chef/owner serves you personally and is incredibly sweet. The cuisine is based most strongly in Moroccan cuisine, but it incorporates aspects fo other Mediterranean foods. And the prices, especially for the lunch specials, are very reasonable.

Today, in addition to the picture of him serving food to a prince of the royal family of Japan, there is a sketch of him in the Bruce Timm style. Well, not really a sketch. More like a production cell.

J. asked about it as the meal was ending, and it turns out that a number of animators at the WB Animation office across the street love to eat lunch there. And so when they were going to set an episode in Morocco, the decided to draw Simon as a character.

So, yeah, we got served our food by this guy.

When are you goign to be in LA again, [livejournal.com profile] toonhead_npl?

tablesaw: "Tablesaw Techniques" (Techniques)
It looks like The Lost Experience may finally be bringing Alternate Reality Games into the limelight. This week's Entertainment Weekly features a large advertising supplement for the new show Kidnapped. Among some mostly basic information, there are some intriguing tidbits, like a phone number: 212-703-8877. Calling it gets you the voice mail of the mother of the kidnapped kid. Most of it's in French, so I don't know what's gong on, or if it leads to anywhere else.

I was looking for more information, but I couldn't find anything. I did find something else though. It seems that someone's using YouTube to ask for the help of Veronica Mars. And Veronica appears to be helping. And most of her classmates at Hearst College seem to be on Livejournal, and members of [livejournal.com profile] hearst_college.

I'm definitely in favor of more ARGing in the world. The question this fall seems not to be how deep the rabbit hole goes, but how many rabbit holes there are.

Yes, I'm suddenly posting a lot. Yes, my girlfriend just left after a three-month stay. Yes, this is not a coincidence.
