[livejournal.com profile] tablesaw: Man, I need a new monitor.
[livejournal.com profile] ojouchan: Probably.
[livejournal.com profile] ojouchan: Or maybe it just needs a good dusting.
[livejournal.com profile] tablesaw: The edges are getting fuzzy.
That's what I was saying just last night. When I came home, I was in the middle of typing a comment, when my screen started going weird. A field of black started pushing in from the right side of the screen and moving back and forth, sometimes blocking out everything. As it moved back and forth, I heard a sound that seemed to be in time with the moving of the Nothing. And that was when I smelled something weird. Something like burning.

I looked up above the monitor, and there was a wisp of smoke. It was a prototypical wisp of smoke that arises from every cartoon appliance to signify its demise. I watched it waft up from my desk, past the posters on my wall, up to the ceiling.

Then I recalled that I was not a cartoon and that, in the real world, a wisp of smoke was less symbolic of the comical failure of electronice and more symbolic of a fire that's about occur twelve inches from my face.

So I unplugged the monitor.

And I got this.
