Teams at the MIT Mystery Hunt this year were given certificates recognizing their accomplishments in various evil fields. After we started closing down headquarters, Sean, who'd designed the certificates, presented us all with certificates of our own. Written in the same style, these certificates proudly proclaimed that we'd been awarded our lives back.

I certainly feel that way. Back in December, I woke up from a depression and realized I was months behind on important work. With the Hunt over, I finally feel like I'm on top of things again. I've got some big projects right now, but I'm caught up, and things should be moving ahead nicely. I've got to finish my Game Set Watch article, I've got some editing to do on the Gamer's Quarter, and I have some other projects as well, but I feel awake and alive and ready for them all.

This weekend, I'm meeting my family for my birthday celebration. Normally, we have this before I visit Boston, but because of an early Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, I was in Boston (with [livejournal.com profile] ojouchan and others) when I turned 29. But this weekend, I think I'm going to declare it to be the start of my new year.

Expect some resolutions then.
