Oh, Jackie O

Well, not really, but I'm definitely making more of a social effort. It's all part of my effort not to be shown up by ojouchan and her fabulous weekend in Boston. The effort will fail, but it will be made.

I have to get to bed early today, because I have to drive way the hell out to Irvine to see Joe Goode (alone, thank you very much, internet). I've let the firm know I'll be late coming back, because even though I'm not sure exactly when I'm getting out, I don't think it'll be enough time to get back from deep Orange County.

Having already moved to the earlier sleep schedule, I'm having dinner with satch at the Monsoon Cafe on the Third Street Promenade. Look at us, we will be the fancy-pants men-on-the-town. Then he will continue on with his fabulous social life while I go work. (So close to the schedule change!)

Monday, I'm hoping to spend some time with wjukknibs at some point in the day to be determined. I expect there will be Guitar Hero.

In the in betweens, I'm going to spend time finishing up editing The Gamer's Quarter's next issue (it's fantastic!) and dealing with some other things, like resting.

Not fabulous, but not so dreary as some of my weekends can be. I do find it odd, though, that despite having a three-day weekend, most of my social stuff is happening on the nights I'm still working.

Real Entry.

Once again, the last post was a complete fabrication, though I do still wish I could go to the dance concert. I think I'll e-mail explaining the situation and see if I can get an MP3 of the Jackie O song.

Anyway, I'm chilling at work right now, but I'm all set to head out. I put everything in the car, and while at work, I haven't remembered everything that I'd forgotten. (Well, I did, but nothing that was at home. I'll be stopping at the store before the flight.)

Speaking of the flight, I only just now noticed, as I was printing out my boarding class that they were first class. This is how busy I've been, I didn't think to wonder why I was in seat "2F". Did you tell me about this, satch, and I just forgot? Or was I just completely oblivious? Regardless, Satch is clearly angling for a spot as a groomsman, and I don't think I'm in a position to deny him.

Hotel is booked, and I confirmed that I'll be checking in late and getting a room with a king-size bed. I've got a rental car to drive ojouchan back on Monday. I've got the lyrics to "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic." I've got Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney—Justice for All for my DS. I've got a Nikoli book; I've got a crossword book; I've got a book that just has a story in it. I have a new phone and its charger. I have a new GPSr and its batteries. I have my nice jacket and my nice shoes. I have a scarf. I have my tickets. I have my reservations. Also, I have no reservations. (See what I did there!)

The only scare was that Ojouchan didn't sign into Google Talk this morning before getting on the bus, but I called her room and got voicemail, so I assume she didn't oversleep.

So I've got to grab some food before the jeweler opens, and then I'm off.

In less than 33 hours, I'm going to be engaged.
