Weekend Notes.
Mar. 10th, 2008 01:22 pmOn Friday, I hung out with
cramerica. We went out to lunch at Birds nearby. It was a nice place, and because it was Friday, I had a seared ahi tuna%ndash;burger that was excellent. We walked back to my place and decided to do nothing but chill, watching Bender's Big Score. Later, when
ojouchan got home, she had big plans for sushi, but she was a bit too tired to go through with them. Still, we made it out to Kabuki before they closed, and had some excellent fish.
On Saturday, Ojou had to work and she left the house early; I decided to sleep in. I felt a bit groggy when I woke up, so I thought I'd start my new book,
yuki_onna's In the Night Garden. About six hours later, I figured I should get out of bed. It was and continues to be excellent, though I remain frustrated by the binding. The rugged ends of the pages are aesthetically pleasing, but practically infuriating. When a story winds around itself so expertly, it's very frustrating not to be able to accurately flip back and forth.
The Amazon page remembers me that In the Night Garden won the James Tiptree Jr. Award. So did the book I had just finished, Light, which won the same award a few years earlier. I'm enjoying Garden much more than I enjoyed Light.
When I finally got up, despite it being a beautiful day outside, I was still lazy and wanted to stay in. Since I'd wasted away so much of the day already, I figured I'd stay inside and also be productive by straightening up the bedroom. While I did so, I watched Flight of the Conchords, which was a Christmas gift from Cram. I also chatted with
mrgoodluckbear, who is in Portland.
Later that night, we went to a game party where—through a tragic lack of communication and planning—there were no games. Thus, most of the night was spent watching
isako luridly play with giant balls.
On Sunday, I ran some errands with Ojou before bed.
Today, my Google Earth howto got linked by Podcacher, which was nice. For my run, I ran uphill until the grade got too steep for me, then I turned back. I probably could have run further, but I messed up my readings and ended up returning home after a little under two miles. I did manage to grab another cache during my exercise, though.
And now I'm going to bed. THE CIRCLE IS COMPLETE.
