tablesaw: "Tablesaw Techniques" (Techniques)
I did stay home today. Feeling a little better, but still not completely on top of things. I'm going to head back to bed right now, as well.

Things done while sick today:
  • Shopping. Why is it that I always get sick when I need supplies? I had to go out to the supermarket today to grab things for being sick and things for just not being moldy after a week in the Caribbean.
  • Watch TV:
    • Flavor of Love 3. I was hooked on this show when Somethin' took a shit during the elimination ceremony. Yes, you read that right.
    • Sarah Jane Adventures. I'm vaguely amused by this show, in a nostalgic-for-watching-Nickelodeon way. I imagine it'll drop off my radar if things get busy, but it was fun to watch with a low attention span.
    • Stargate SG1 (on DVD). Put this on in the bedroom, fell asleep in fifteen minutes. Turned it back on as I was waking up.
    • Psych. [livejournal.com profile] ojouchan and I finally got around to finishing the finale.
    • Doctor Who. "The Sontaran Stratagem," because I wait for the US releases.
  • Played Defend Your Castle. This is a download for the Wii, and it's my first Wii Ware game. It's based on a browser game of the same name, so you can play and get a feel for it. The Wii version is the same gameplay, but the Wiimote is smoother than the mouse (for me at least), and the art and sounds are fantastic. I suspect it'll be my new goto game for killing small bits of time in the living room.
  • Ate soup, drink juice and soda, and took medicine.
  • And, of course, sleep.

There's a trailer for the upcoming remake of Beverly Hills 90210:

Compare the cast to the demographics of Beverly Hills High School, the real-world school that both shows are based on:
In 2007, about 17% of the 2,362 students at the school are of Asian extraction, about 4% are Latino and about 5% are African American. Nearly 70% of the students are white, a category that includes 450 students of Persian descent. [6] Most of them are Persian Jews whose parents fled the Iranian Revolution.

About 35% of Beverly's current student body were born outside the United States, and 42% of its students speak a first language other than English. Many of these students are of Persian descent. [3] (pdf)
Wikipedia (but don't give me crap about citing Wikipedia because I just spent a whole bunch of time correcting the section)

Also, don't get [livejournal.com profile] ojouchan started on the background of the black student (because god knows the only way a black man could be in Beverly Hills is if he's adopted).
