So, my life has filled out to the point where I actually have to say I can't hang out with people because I already have plans. Which is surprising. Not that I have plans, but that I have so many potential plans at any given time.
Today,
foggyb ran Intercoastal Altercations IV. I feel safe in saying that it's the best set of puzzles he's ever run, including a previous Intercoastal Altercation, the Pub Crawl, and other things I've been privy to, including Space Fight (I'll get the time to write about that soon). It featured ten puzzles that were of more or less equal difficulty. Some were easier than others, but there wasn't any single one that had a member of our team completely stuck for the whole time. The metapuzzle seemed involved a Liars/Truthtellers logic puzzle, apparent from the start. When I first saw it, I was worried, but it worked extremely well, was integrated seemlessly into each puzzle, and had a natural path to a solution that was very exciting. Amazingly enough, the entire team worked through the logic together, shouting over a table, until we got the answer.
In the end, our team (hosted and captained by
cramerica) came in second, apparently slightly behind a team with
thedan,
tmcay,
joecab, and others. From the team listing, it looks like we were the two biggest teams, so that probably had something to do with it.
I've written some more specific notes in a separate entry, to avoid spoilers.
