I've been listening to Laura Veirs a lot recently. I've had Year of Meteors for a while now, and I still love it as much as I ever did. A little while ago, I bought the previous album, Carbon Glacier. I didn't care for it very much when I first listened to it, but it's grown on me. It's not as good as Meteors, or perhaps its just more obscure. Veirs is a strange lyricist, but the music of Meteors just feels a lot easier to get into.

The two albums are resident on my iPod right now, because they're a good set of songs for most any occasion. They're good when I'm reading, relaxing, or driving. (They're not very good for high-energy happy time, but that's why I also have the Pinker Tones on there.) Most importantly, they're good to listen to while I'm working. I really like listening to podcasts at work, but when I have to ay close attention to words, having someone talking in my ear isn't all that helpful.

I recently gave [livejournal.com profile] satch a copy of Meteors for his birthday, and hopefully he'll like it. (Of course, now that I've mentioned it, he'll feel obligated to comment on this post and say how psyched he is about it. Psyched all the time.) The new album comes out next month, and I'm looking forward to that too.

There's only one more day left in my new work schedule. Exciting! I don't have any plans for Freedom Friday, but I'm thinking about finally breaking out the new GPSr for geocaching on Friday or Saturday. Any locals interested?
