Yesterday, I applied for my first credit card ever. Screw you, debt crisis!
Later, while waiting for
ojouchan to finish shopping, I picked up some CDs.

- Flight of the Conchords—Flight of the Conchords.
cramerica gave us the DVD of the TV show Flight of the Conchords, which quickly became our favorite Christmas gift of the season. It's a great show, and it's deeply endeared itself to us. This album that collects many of the songs from the series, recorded in a studio, as compared to their previous live recordings. The album version of "Bowie" feels oddly compressed, but the other songs are still fantastic.
- Music to Make Love to Your Old Lady By—Lovage. This album popped up on one of those internet, streaming-music, "tell us what you like and we'll suggest other stuff" sites. I don't remember which one it was, but I never forgot about it, and when I saw it used, I figured I should pick it up. It's from Dan the Automator, who's done a lot of fantastic stuff like Doctor Octagon and the first Gorillaz album.
- Cosmic Thing—The B-52s. I had this on cassette when I was a teen, and it's comfort music for me. I remember sticking it into my walkman while I mowed the lawn on Sunday afternoons. The other day, I heard "Channel Z" and realized how much I was missing the album. So when I so it, I grabbed it.
- Funplex—The B-52s. Yeah, the B-52s have a new album. It's pretty good. I mean, it's just what you'd expect from them: catchy, silly, insane songs. The highlight is the titular single with lines like "I'm your daytime waitress at the Taco Tiki Hut/I'm your daytime waitress; here's your stupid 7-Up."
- It's a Bit Complicated—Art Brut. I really liked Art Brut's first album, so I picked this one up. It's pretty good, but so far, I haven't heard the same kind of stand-outs that I found on the earlier CD.
