Feb. 10th, 2009 06:17 pmRecently, my old Quasar television set started flickering when turned on. It started out small and would resolve itself after only a few seconds, but it's gotten worse. Now the picture's prety much unwatchable for a few minutes, and for some of that time, the entire picutre is compressed into a single bright line across the center of the screen.
So it looks like my postponing on buying a new TV may be coming to an end soon. I've had my eye on a Vizio for a while, but if we have to replace a TV (rather than patiently preparing for a new TV on our own terms), it may not happen just so. We've got a few Best Buy gift cards that we've been saving for a rainy day (not to mention a haily days), and that might make the decision of where we buy our next TV. In fact, it may end up being our Valentine's Day gift.
I wrote the above this morning, before I left work. Then I came home and fell straight into bed. While I slept, the TV did give up the ghost. I'm off to Best Buy now. Wish me luck.
